Comment by Eric December 28, 2007 at 8:51 pm Enderle, head of the Enderle Group (which is Enderle and his wife, and maybe their pet guinea pig) bloviates once more. Twists facts to levels unrecognizable and does everything he can to destroy Apple s reputation. ThinkSecret was not a Mac fan site. It was a rumor site.

For those of us to whom this means nothing (namely all of us) - this system will allow Apple to find out how long an iPod owner has been listening to music and at what volume. Reports suggest that there will be no way around this - not even by turning your iPod off and on again - as the system includes a way for Apple to figure out “the amount of ‘quiet time’ between when the iPod is turned off and when it is restarted”.
Get the latest news from Computerworld delivered via email. Security researchers warn that attack code targeting an unpatched bug in Apple’s QuickTime has gone public, and added that in-the-wild attacks against systems running Windows XP and Vista are probably not far behind. There was no word as of last Sunday whether the Mac OS X versions of the media player are also vulnerable.

Picture this: daddy buys his daughter an iPod classic for Christmas. The elated teen opens the iPod box to find nothing but the ramblings of some douche who has read one of Oprah’s recommended self help books, and/or wears a Che Guevara styled military hat. Jump for the festive note: “Reclaim your mind from the media shackles. Read a book and resurrect yourself.

In my previous post, I got upset about what appeared to be a personal attack on Dan Lyons by Apple. Today I found out that Dan was trying to draw more attention to the Think Secret shutdown which, I agree, we should have all been more concerned about than we were. But Apple never actually went after Dan. I clearly was drinking way too much eggnog to see the joke for what it was. It was kind of ironic that it was a Slashdot post that got me going in the first place.

BTW, can you actually download the videos on hulu? and no one seems to say that the NY post is a garbage republican newspaper, and hates SJs anyway. I have seen plenty of bad press about Apple in this paper. It’s Tabloid, Tabloid, Tabloid It is patently absurd to compare the Post with any normal newspaper (NYTimes, Washington Post, etc.).

Netflix is morphing into something very big. The apatosaurus was also very big. Seriously, though, the future of the movie business is hard to call. Continued success for TiVo seems unlikely; they are bleeding cash. Growth for Netflix is possible. Renting of High Def Blu Ray discs seems one way things could go (I think we all know HD DVD is a non-starter) The continued existance of AMZN UnBox and XBox Video seems extremely clouded.
