If Gartner says 12% by 2011, I’d be inclined to think 20%, at least.

The launch date of the site was not listed, but it appears to be fairly new. Apple is currently on a roll in selling the Mac. The company last week reported shipping 44% more Mac computers during the fiscal first quarter ended Dec. 29 than in the same period in 2006. In shipping 2.3 million Macs during the quarter, the company took in 47% more revenue than the year before.

Patent firm sues Apple

The patent document describes a “mobile entertainment and communication device in a palm-held size housing [that] has a cellular or satellite telephone”, can connect to the Internet, read and write to memory cards, playback multimedia files, and possibly even contains other great things like a camera, a GPS module, or a microphone. The patent therefore describes just about every modern smartphone on the market.

Jerry Shen, head honcho of Asustek, confirmed that the E-DT desktop will be monitorless, and between US$200-300 when it comes out in April or May. The E-monitor all-in-one is aimed at the iMac market with a 19- to 21-inch screen and integrated TV tuner. Both these products will eventually share Intel’s Shelton ‘08 platform. The E-TV will enter into the 42-inch-plus LCD TV class, while integrating the Linux PC functions of the Eee line.

Asustek’s nifty and inexpensive Eee PC laptop certainly captivated the market and all us assorted tech writers, so now seems as good a time as any for Asustek to go after other segments of the market. They’ve decided people might like their version of a desktop PC, an “all -in-one” like the iMac, and an “E-TV.” The E-DT, a desktop PC which will not be sold with a monitor, is scheduled to launch in April or May this year and will be showcased at CeBIT 2008.

Apple’s MacBook Air starts shipping today, which means that it’s only a matter of days until we see a grinning, smug-like man stroking the Air and showing it off in the middle of the subway commute. Then, Mr. Dumas will put the notebook away in an office envelope, after which everyone in the train will slowly roll their eyes.
