Both here and in the UK O2 are charging roughly the same entry level tariff ( 35= 45), but look… In the UK for that monthly rate they get 600 minutes and 500 texts plus unlimited downloads. We in Ireland, with the same Mobile Operator don t forget, get only 175 minutes and only 100 texts.

Apple a Top 10 handset vendor Meanwhile, new data released by Market research firm Gartner on Wednesday list Apple amongst the world’s Top 10 handset vendors for the first time, with less than one percent of the global market. Blackberry maker Research in Motion also joined the elite ranks for the first time, while Motorola’s fall from grace continued with its slice of the market sliding from 21.1 percent in the fourth quarter of 2006 to 14.3 percent in the fourth quarter of 2007.

Other among top 10 mobile phone makers included recently are Research In Motion and ZTE. A Lee County teacher who had been nominated for one of the area’s top education honors is being investigated by the state for allegedly hitting at least two disabled students when she worked in Charlotte County. Catherine Hile, 42, who teaches autistic students in kindergarten through second grade at Gulf Elementary in Cape Coral, has been removed from the list of Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Program finalists because of the probe, Marshall Bower said today.

A Firefox developer who goes by the name Vladimir said on his blog that Mac OS X could potentially have code that enhance Safari’s performance. In his blog, Vladimir says that while collecting feedback from Mac beta testers for Firefox 3, several have indicated that the new iteration seems to be anywhere from 50- to 500-percent slower than v2.x. After some troubleshooting, Vladimir reveals that the screen drawing synchronicity engine causes the issue.

Apple Valley vs. Tartan

The team competition got underway Thursday at the state wrestling tournament in St. Paul. Two-time defending champs Apple Valley opened the team quarterfinals with a 54-12 win over Tartan. The Eagles got out to a quick start, getting pins from Destin McCauley at 119 pounds and Tom Kelliher at 125 pounds. Kelliher needed just 34 seconds for his win. With the win, the Eagles advance to Friday night’s team semifinals at the Xcel Center.
