So everyone was eagerly waiting for Apple to introduce a notebook in the sub-$1,000 price market. New Apple MacBooks offer more

The MacBook Air was the one area that we didn t know a lot about as to what Apple would tell us. What we found out is that they will offer a new 120GB hard disk with the option of a 128GB SSD drive. It will use the new precision aluminum manufacturing brick craving process and it will sizzle with Nvidia graphics. There is no built-in cellular connectivity, which was a bit disappointing, but, hey, they made it thinner.

After announcing the update of the lineup of MacBook notebooks, Steve Jobs, chief executive officer of Apple, said that the company currently has no plans to release an inexpensive mobile computer, or a netbook. Mr. Jobs did not reveal any reasons for not launching a cheap notebook other than stating that the market for such class of devices is not really large. Apple announced new laptop models Tuesday. The price on an older model was cut, but Morgan Keegan analyst Tavis McCourt noted that the company was largely sticking to its premium strategy rather than cutting prices to lure newly price-conscious buyers. The cheapest new model costs $1,299. Meanwhile, Windows-based laptops are available for less than $500.

At least for current MacBook Pro owners, the features didn’t get any worse. There are 2 USB ports, a Firewire 800 port, Ethernet, optical out and a headphone jack. The slot-loading DVD burner works the same way as older generation drives. The one significant change is cutting off DVI-out in favor of DisplayPort. Apple and Lenovo believe that DisplayPort is the video port of the future, while every other laptop manufacturer is betting on HDMI.

Broadway is offering a variety of TV shows through Apple s iTune Store and other outlets such as the Web, video on demand and for mobile devices. Inlet provides video compression technology. The firm is venture capital backed.
