The annual Expo is said to be debuting a new 13-inch ultra-portable Macbook, dropping 50% of the weight and even slimmer than the current 15-inch Macbook Pro. The downside? Apple supposedly drops the optical drive to acheive the weight loss. The upside? Supposedly you’re getting some solid state storage in the form of NAND flash, so kudos to faster load times and reduced power consumption.
The 13-inch display is said to include LED backlights instead of the usual CCFL’s, which will help with power efficiency, as well as produce a better image. We’ll see what happens on January 15th, when the Expo rolls out.
