TAIPEI (Taiwan News) - Apple’s fourth-quarter profit skyrocketed in iPhone and Computer sales with the net income to be US$1.14 billion, marking a 31 percent increase in net income as compared to the same period last year. The earnings per share is US$1.26, which is US$1.1 higher than market analysts’ forecast. Apple’s financial report shows that the revenue in the fourth quarter rises to US$7.9 billion, as compared to US$6.2 billion in the same period last year.
The number of iPhones sold reaches 6.89 million, which is 1.11 million more than the number in the same period last year. As to the Macintosh computers, 2.61 million computers have been sold, rising by 21 percent compared to that of last year’s with a growth rate of 17 percent in revenue. Apple said that the number of iPod sold grows by eight percent to 11.05 million with revenue gained by three percent.
