iTunes soars to 2nd spot in music retail; Google shows weakness

But life has gotten busy since then, and I leave that to my wife now. She’s the one always buying the iTunes cards and filling up her own iPod with her songs of choice. Apple has made this an easy process, except for slow Internet speed when everyone is trying to purchase and download songs at the same time. iTunes still rocks Although I have slowed down with my purchases and listening to music, about 50 million other iTunes fans seem to be still enjoying themselves.
Apple has announced that not only does it have millions of customers, but it also has sold around 4 billion songs, with 20 million sold on Christmas Day. As for further bragging rights, it is citing numbers from the NPD Group’s music watch survey that puts it only behind Wal-Mart as the largest music retailer in the nation. The iPod, the iTunes software and the iTunes card seem to be a trio that’s working for Apple.
I guess holding the second spot in music sales is not so bad, especially when you have several other areas of interest, such as computers, software and even a mobile phone. But just for the iTunes customers, the vice president of Apple says thanks to the 50 million music lovers who have helped the iTunes Store reach its incredible milestone. That’s a whole lot of music sold and you deserve a pat on the back for being a loyal iTunes fan. As far as I know, you get nothing free, though.
Google stumbles It looks like Google is not Superman after all. In the last few days, the stock has been trading lower at just under $500, down from trading over $700 in December. The slide in price looks like a ski slope beginning from around Christmas Day. Maybe now is the time to grab a few shares in one of Wall Street’s financial stars. Or maybe not, because I’ve always believed that what’s deemed a low or attractive stock price can go even lower.
