Sure, Steve Jobs and crew had a few clever innovations in there, but the market share for an Apple computer was nowhere the same market share experienced by Windows-powered PCs. These days, Windows machines still outnumber Apple machines, but the latter has made a lot of headway. As I m sure you already know, Apple is also experiencing tons of success with the iPod and the iPhone. Both of those product lines are literally selling like hotcakes.

For example, there was a significant period of time during which Apple had colour-screen models and HP did not. Also, until very recently, HP only sold the white iPod models and not the iPod Mini or flash-based iPod Shuffle. HP announced in June that it would start selling a Mini model and said earlier this month it would begin offering the Shuffle.

MVNOs driven purely by content distribution have struggled, however. In fact, it’s hard to think of a single one that’s succeeded. A recent high-profile casualty in this arena was a Disney-operated MVNO featuring sports content from the ESPN channel.
Adding an integrated speaker is also welcome, though what you get is hardly hi-fi’”less so than even the iPhone’s speaker. Apple describes this speaker as being for ‘њcasual listening’ќ and ‘њshort-form content,’ќ such as previewing songs at the iTunes Store, YouTube videos, short podcasts, and games.
The first iPod pioneered the concept of a 1.8 hard disk drive-based music player that used a bright white screen and rotating wheel for navigation. Its second-generation 2002 sequel changed the wheel to a touch-sensitive surface and came in both PC and Mac versions. A completely redesigned third-generation model in 2003 added a bottom accessory Dock Connector, replaced all the clickable buttons with touch-sensitive controls, and added USB connectivity as an option.
