We normally turn to China for knockoff products, and although the text looks Korean or Japanese to me, the actual product shown is indeed made in China. The third-generation iPod nano has received a very warm reception from the public for its cool CoverFlow navigation, pipsqueak proportions, and glorious color screen. But this knockoff seems to be even better.

Apple iPod Nano Sales are Growing Apple released their newly redesigned iPod Nano back in September, and sales for this MP3 player were a bit slow at first but have begun to turn around during the holiday season. The Apple iPod Nano is now one of the top selling tech gadgets this holiday season. Back in September, some Apple stores reported initial sales of only 200-500 of the new iPod Nanos of their initial stock of 1800-2500 units (source: AppleInsider ).

The data seems to go a little against recent findings by Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster said that observation showed that customers favored higher-priced models of iPods during the same weekend. But both analysts could still be right. Each version of iPod classic, nano, touch, shuffle exist in their own bubbles for the most part and don t really compete with each other for the same buyers.

Due to the lax intellectual property restrictions in China, a company called ECNokia is peddling a generic MP4 player that is designed and operates remarkably like Apple Inc. ’s third-generation iPod Nano player. The player includes the clickwheel used for navigation with an iPod as well as the same type menu design. It also is designed like the Nano, with the rounded edges.

New here? I love the word “trounces”. I so rarely get to use it in a sentence. Since June, Microsoft’s retail partners have been working to sell those first million Zunes to consumers at fire sale prices as low as $80. That’s at or even below cost. This would explain why it’s one of the top selling on amazon right now. Microsoft is dumping the Zune on the market, figuring because it’s cheap enough people will settle for mediocre, like they did Windows. Wow what an article/review.
