| Published: February 21, 2008 - 08:32AM CT Analyst coverage of Apple has been particularly busy since last month s Macworld Expo. Last week, the reports focused on the MacBook Air and the demand (or lack thereof) for the product. WTF Apple? Refurbished Shuffle More Expensive Than New One?

You would think that getting a refurbished iPod would be cheaper than getting a new one, wouldn’t you? Well, it’s not. As reader Chris pointed out, now that the 1GB Shuffles cost $65 , having to fork out $69 for a refurbished model seems a little bit steep. Of course, if you’re stupid enough to pay more for a refurbished model, then I’ve got no sympathy for you.

Another day, another batch of iPod owners wishing they’d waited a bit longer to but their prized MP3 player. Apple announced yet another price cut and storage increase this week, this time for its iPod Shuffle. Apple cut the price of the 1GB device from $69 to $49. The digital media giant also announced that a 2GB version of the tiny player is on the way, available later this month for $69. The bigger shuffle, which clips onto clothing like the 1GB version, can hold about 500 songs.
It is pissing me off now cause I cant bypass it to get to load my new pic folders. I cant even manually tansfer doc because of that stupid upgrade. If they are givin it to people who by the touch now as a standard, how come I have to pay $20 for it when I already paid $400 for this thing. I guess I will break down and get it soon. Man, Apple is good.
One of those “new possibilities” includes turning the iPod into a virtual coffee machine. “If for example you are on your way to Starbucks, you could wirelessly order your drink from your iPod, pay for it using your iTunes account or the attached credit card, and pick it up without ever standing in line or waiting at a cash register,” he predicts.

I ll be honest, Apple is starting to weird me out a little bit. I picture Steve Jobs like the paranoid Mr. Burns in that Simpsons episode where he owns the casino and he stops shaving and starts wearing Kleenex boxes on his feet because he hates germs. It s just that some of the recent decisions behind certain products and services don t make much sense, like charging iPod touch owners $20 for a handful of widgets and creating an external drive that only works with one computer .
