Apple has always been a fairly small company. However their influence is quite far reaching and to maintain that the company seems to feel that behaving like it’s larger brothers makes it more credible. The product coming out of Apple is high end in terms of simple function and ease of use. Their business practices don’t seem to be interested in enhancing their image unless it meets the bottom line (money).

The Washington Apple Commission hopes growers will give the organization an early Christmas present in a referendum to increase the per-box assessment for promotion of the state’s apple exports. Commission chairman Dale Foreman, a former state legislator and state Republican Party official, urged growers attending the recent Washington State Horticultural Association’s annual conference in Wenatchee to approve an increase of 1 cent per box.

The US Patent and Trademark Office awarded Apple a patent for a system designed to protect falling storage devices, by enabling sensors within the devices to enact a temporary safety protocol if any subtle change in gravity or acceleration is detected, says Computer World . The documents list Paul James Wehrenberg as the inventor of the system. Apple officials did not respond to a request for comment on the company’s plans for the patented system.
