Speaking at a Goldman Sachs investor’s conference in Las Vegas yesterday, Apple COO Tim Cook said that, “Apple is not married to the single, exclusive-carrier model.” Whoa. So is Apple’s exclusive contract with AT&T shorter than initial projections? And if so, when might other carriers be able to sell the iPhone? This is an intriguing turn of events.

Both here and in the UK O2 are charging roughly the same entry level tariff ( 35= 45), but look… In the UK for that monthly rate they get 600 minutes and 500 texts plus unlimited downloads. We in Ireland, with the same Mobile Operator don t forget, get only 175 minutes and only 100 texts.

Steve Jobs announced the iPhone SDK already back in October. The announcement targeted a release in February. Now BusinessWeek has posted a story saying the iPhone SDK is late by 1 to 3 weeks.

BBC Worldwide is to sell many of the corporation’s most popular shows through Apple iTunes, it confirmed today. Headline programmes including Torchwood , Life On Mars , Little Britain , Spooks and Ashes to Ashes are now available on the UK version of the service at Ј1.89 per episode. It makes the BBC the first British broadcaster to offer its shows through the application. New shows will be available for seven days on the corporation’s own iPlayer, as they are currently, before moving to iTunes.

Comment from: bobchr Had Verizon 2 years ago and switched to Cingular. I was working construction management and kept running between 20 - 60 minutes over on my 450 minutes/mont plan. Verizon has the best coverage but still the most expensive plans. Even when I boosted my plan to 600 minutes / month I was still getting hit with overage charges to the tune of $125 to $200 per month. My boss would only pay for 1/2 my bill even though 95% of the calls were for his business.
