I am all for Apple introducing movie downloads…providing they offer HD as well. With the Apple TV having HDMI, this would seem like the next logical step. Let’s face it, the quality of the movies on iTunes right now is horrendous. If Xbox Live can offer me HD movie downloads, I know Apple can make this technology work as well. I know it isn’t “true HD,” but for a movie that downloads in a relatively short time, the quality on Xbox Live is still pretty good.

Somehow, I get the feeling that Apple loves its Japanese customers more than it loves the rest of us. The shows can be bought for CAN$1.99 apiece and are already available at the same ol 640×480. As usual, the shows can be played across Apple s growing ecosystem of gadgets, and we know what you re thinking, but no: unfortunately, there was no slip in Apple s announcement about a Canadian iPhone. All things considered though, we can agree with quotes from Eddy Cue, Apple s VP of iTunes, that we re off to a great start… just in time for the holiday season.

“The next batch of painful ‘Jackass’ stunts is coming to a computer screen near you,” The Associated Press reports. “The first two films - spun off from the former MTV series - co-starred Johnny Knoxville and his gang of gross-out pranksters as they performed stunts to the delight of their youthful fans. No work for Cubie until May, baby! I agree derelict. It is such a disappointment that the Apple TV won’t do any of this even though it probably has the capability. I would buy it in a second if it could hook up to stuff like Joost. Apple makes much more of its profit from selling iPods (and iPhones) than from the iTunes Store. Jermaine Dupri: We made iTunes, not Apple; no more singles, buy albums or we ll take them away! “Some people find it hard to understand my man Jay-Z’s decision not to let iTunes break up his American Gangster album and sell it as single tracks. They say he’s fighting the future and losing out on sales from fans who only want to download singles. But I say it was a stand somebody had to take in the music industry.
