Second generation iPod Touch (Credit: CNET Networks/Corinne Schulze) Q: I have a question about what MP3 player I should get. I want a player with video, 8GB (or more) memory, and possibly touch screen. I would prefer it to be pocketable, but that doesn’t matter as much. The two I have found are the second-gen iPod Touch and the Archos 5 . I also found a refurbished first-gen iPod Touch for $60 less than the second-gen.

We expect a qualitatively different kind of experience with a phone or handheld than we do with a computer. After all, programs crash and even with my less-than-awesome typing skills, I’d often get ahead of Microsoft Word. The iPod Touch is still the most expensive model in the iPod range ‘“ and slightly more expensive than rivals such as the Archos 605 ‘“ but bringing the 8GB model down from ВЈ199 to ВЈ169 makes it seem more affordable and less of a luxury item.

Add files to the queue Repeat steps 2 through 9, adding as many videos as you wish to convert. I recommend doing this at night before you go to bed, as the process is time consuming and slows your machine somewhat. You can check the box labeled Shutdown When Complete if you want your computer to be automatically shut down at the end of the process. Videora should automatically add the completed files to iTunes–it did for me most of the time.

Reader Mike Chung sent us these pictures of his MacBook Pro battery, which has almost failed for the second time? Why do I say almost? I mean, it’s clear that the battery has ballooned into some sort of slimy, Alien -like monstrosity. Well, apparently this battery is still alive and working.
O’Grady has heard that the new MacBook Pros will retain its more traditional boxy-look and not adopt the tapered edge design of the MacBook Air. We’re not sure if that completely correlates with the previously leaked MacBook Pro image that does seem to depict a tapered edge. O’Grady also believes the new MacBook Pro will be thinner and “as much as a half-inch narrower” than existing models. The space savings will reportedly come from a smaller bezel (border) around the screen.
