Granted, these are just job postings. I do, however, think that the multi-touch engineering positions, combined with other Apple rumors , at least point towards more multi-touch products. Given the timing, I m not sure we ll see a multi-touch Mac at Macworld per se, but it could appear a few more months down the line. “Apple doesn’t talk about future product releases. They just don’t. I’ve found them to be one of the most secretive computer vendors,” Deal said. “In my years of covering various computer vendors, some will allow analysts and press to sign a nondisclosure agreement and will demonstrate some new products ahead of time.

Browsing them is half the fun, and because download files are fairly small, one can waste the better part of an afternoon installing and uninstalling a bunch of them. All the widgets listed below are free, except where noted. Be aware that widgets you keep will eat up some space on your system.

I used vulnerability statistics from an impartial third party vendor, Secunia, and I broke them down by Windows XP flaws, Vista flaws, and Mac OS X flaws. Since Secunia doesn’t offer individual numbers for Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.4, I merged the XP and Vista vulnerabilities so that we can compare Vista + XP flaws to Mac OS X So this shows that Apple had more than 5 times the number of flaws per month than Windows XP and Vista in 2007, and most of these flaws are serious.

The MacBook Pro gets a new chipset, which means processor bumps, a faster frontside bus, and more RAM capacity. However, the more significant refinement in this update is a new graphics system powered by the Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT. Unlike the 15-inch models, the 17-inch MacBook Pro does not sport a new LED-backlit display for better battery life; however, a build-to-order option lets you select a higher-resolution display with 1,920-by-1,200 native resolution.

Nearly half of the 41 vulnerabilities - at least 17 were marked by Apple as capable of “arbitrary code execution,” which is the company’s way of saying an exploit could conceivably result in malware infiltrating a Mac or enabling a hacker hijack of the machine.
